Exclusive: Hermione Harbutt Talks Exquisite Accessories

When it comes to the perfect finishing touches for a bride’s look, Hermione Harbutt, is the exquisite designer to turn to. She creates the most beautiful, original and artistic headpieces, accessories and jewellery coveted by both brides and the fashion elite. That’s why I’m thrilled she agreed to guest write the LOVE blog for us, picking out some of her favourite looks and offering some styling advice, to help our brides create top-to-toe flawless looks.

Headdresses, jewellery and accessories are such an important part of a bride’s ensemble. They will be noticed by every one of your guests and will be in most of your wedding photographs – which is why it is so important to love every single piece!

My focus, when I’m designing and creating my pieces, is timeless luxury. Each piece is individually handmade in my studio, using only the finest components. I’ve always been fond of past eras and fashion trends, especially the 1920s – 1950s. I love vintage styles but with an up-to-date fashion feel. Nature has been a constant inspiration; the intricate details of flowers, leaves and tendrils feature heavily in my designs, and give a soft, feminine feel to my work.

Trying to choose my favourite piece is impossible for me, I love each and everyone of them, however, I’ve picked out some of my more popular bridal pieces that I hope will inspire you to look at accessories as a key component of your overall bridal look.

Celeste features beautiful, warm golden leaves and freshwater pearl hairpins. Depending on the hairstyle you’ve chosen, the pins can be clustered together for dramatic effect or interspersed around the hair for a more ethereal look. The delicate nature of this design looks amazing with a bohemian inspired dress, and, given that the designs are inspired by nature, would be perfect at an outdoor wedding.

These beautiful star shape Swarovski crystal hairpins, christened Orion, make a real style statement. They are perfect for brides who have chosen a more understated dress and want to add some ‘wow’ to their look. I love the example shown here of interspersing the pins around a braid, it looks stunning. However, the pins would also work well in a half-up, half-down look, or simply pinning hair from the front of the face. I especially love how these pins twinkle and sparkle as the lights go down and a wedding party gets into full swing.

Vines are single pieces that are suspended from a slim detachable chain, this versatile piece can be worn as a necklace or the perfect hair adornment. Cordelia Crystal has pretty silver tendrils embellished in Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls inspired by the Art Deco movement. This piece looks incredibly chic crowning a low bun and can be worn on its own or to enhance a beautiful veil.

Whether you choose a delicate circlet or a bold headband, my headpieces are perfect for making a high-end fashion statement.

Titiana is a luxurious crown of golden leaves, freshwater pearl flowers and champagne coloured Swarovski crystals that adds a regal statement to a bridal look.

Myrtle has golden leaves overlaid with pearls, golden details and mint Swarovski crystal flowers to create this beautiful headdress. Inspired by vintage, Victorian tiaras, she would look perfect with a vintage style wedding dress.

For a more subtle and romantic statement, my Floriana headdress has pearl blooms with golden accents, surrounded with golden leaves, champagne Swarovski crystals and pearls. Wear as a delicate garland positioned over the hair, across the forehead or, as this versatile design can be unfastened, woven into a plait to add some delicate, precious detail.

My Deco Back Necklace is the perfect accessory for a bride who has chosen a backless gown. This royal inspired design features beautiful large round pearls with a central pearl and set Swarovski crystal droplet detail.

Whichever Hermione Harbutt accessory you choose, my timeless design and consummate craftsmanship means it will become an heirloom piece, something to be treasured forever and passed on to future generations to admire and enjoy.

Thank you so much to Hermione for picking out some of her beautiful pieces. If you’d like to see a selection of pieces from her exquisite range in person, then please, get in touch and make an appointment, we’d LOVE to see you.
