A luxe, tropical vibe for Love Bridal at Wedstival ’17

Forget Glastonbury, forget T in the Park (OK, well don’t cos they’re great fun!), Wedstival is where it’s at!  Organised by the energetic team at Brides Up North, this phenomenal, large-scale festival meets wedding fair is as an absolute must-do event in any bridal planning calendar.

Held at Capesthorne Hall in Macclesfield, the event features over 60+ wedding suppliers in a sea of tipis, sailcloth marquees and bell tents alongside the obligatory street food, live music and Pimms stalls. Whoop!

We were delighted to be a part of it for the second year running, determined to make our stand even bigger and better than last year.  Our ‘live’ mannequins made a return appearance and we worked with Green Earth Flowers again, but both were briefed to up the drama.

We channelled the relaxed, bohemian vibe and brought along a selection of dresses to suit. Our gowns included some slinky lace, embellished and crepe designs from Enzoani, plus some more romantic floaty styles from Sarah Seven and Sassi Holford.  Our mannequins modelled them beautifully and readily got involved in the usual Boomerang and selfie action!

They stood in front of a bespoke backdrop supplied by Laura and Derren from Green Earth Flowers who sprayed palm leaves gold to create a luxe, tropical feel to the stand. This same glamour continued with lavish planters of lavender, grasses and vanilla-scented pot plants surrounding the wonderful props supplied by Owen House Wedding Barn.  Rustic ladders, milk churns and wooden crates displayed elegant shoes from Harriet Wilde and Charlotte Mills, plus a range of pretty and delicate accessories.

Finishing touches came in the form of favour-style shortbread hearts with a marble and gold leaf effect finish, provided by the lovely Laura from Yolk and tying in perfectly with the theme.

We weren’t the only ones to go to tons of effort.  Green Earth wowed us with their stand displaying posies overflowing from overhead displays and our models fell in love with Daisy Vintage and their photo booth van – we literally couldn’t tear them away from posing!

There were lots of unique food and drink camper vans too, including Bean and Bubble, serving coffee and prosecco (what more do you need?) and Ice Cream Dub with their luxury and delicious treats.  Cars too; Bubbles and Bale fitted in perfectly at the festival, showcasing their vehicles which come complete with bales of hay and serving fizz in the back and Love Machine, offering unique cars ideal for a rustic wedding, when a Rolls Royce just won’t do!

Even the brides and their maids got in on the festival act, wearing flower crowns and blooms in their hair.  The overall effect was an upbeat, relaxed and fun day out and quite unlike any other wedding fair.  We love meeting so many excitable brides-to-be and having the opportunity to get creative.  In fact, we loved our gold palms so much, we brought them home and displayed them in the shop window!

Brides to be getting in the Festival spirit

As Jonny was the official event photographer we were given access to the stunning gardens and lake of Capesthorne Hall allowing us to sneak in a mini photo shoot with our models.  The amazing colourful flowers, particularly the wild bluebells provided the perfect backdrop and wrapped up the beautiful day perfectly.
