Everyone's been talking about ‘THE’ dress. From national newspapers to worldwide bloggers to brides-to-be, all eyes have been firmly fixed on Pippa Middleton!
s they set off on their globe-trotting honeymoon adventure to Australia, looking as stylish as ever, we take a look back on the dress that got us all talking.
Rewind to earlier this year, when whispers of British fashion designer, Giles Deacon, designing the much-anticipated wedding gown, we knew we were in for something spectacular. But, both designer and bride had a lot to live up to…following in the footsteps of Kate and William and ‘THAT’ bridesmaid dress. But having had time to pour over all the photos of the happy couple, I’m sure you’ll agree it was a triumph for both bride and designer.
Like any well-respected stylist, I spent the morning of the wedding, phone in hand, scanning the online news for photos and footage – oohing and aahing as Pippa arrived with her father and desperately trying to get a glimpse of her dress. Thankfully she didn’t keep us waiting long and, like many of you, I took in every detail. There’s some great photos in The Guardian if you missed it!
The stunning lace-bodied, hi-neck wedding gown had delicate capped sleeves (showing off enviable toned arms!), her waist was accentuated by a corseted bodice and, my favourite bit, the heart-shaped detail at the back literally made me swoon. I’m sure her guests had a fabulous surprise as she walked down the aisle.
Lace is certainly a forever favourite with our LOVE brides. Unique lace detailing features in many of our designer’s gowns, including Stewart Parvin, Sassi Holford, Sarah Seven and Enzoani. They’ve taken a fresh approach to this traditional fabric applying intricate designs to skirts, sleeves and necklines.
One of the things I really admired about Pippa’s dress was the craftmanship. If you look closely it appears the dress has no seams. Deacon and his team hand appliquéd the lace and embroidered pearl detailing over the lace bodice – WOW. This no doubt had to be done at the very last minute once a perfect fit had been achieved to Pippa’s super toned body! And, just when you think it couldn’t get any better, the layer upon layer of organza and tulle underskirt made it seem like she was floating on air!
Like Pippa, back detail is something that more and more of our LOVE brides are looking for as a feature of their wedding gown. We have a number of gowns with stunning back detail from low backs, to illusion backs and keyhole backs like this stunning silk crepe gown from our designer Stewart Parvin.
Now, not many people can afford a Giles Deacon couture gown (which will set you back around £120,000…gulp!) but with amazing designers such as Sassi Holford, Sarah Seven , Stewart Parvin, Enzoani and Savannah Miller producing unique, luxurious dresses for LOVE Bridal Boutique in Altrincham and costing between £1,300 and £4,000, you too can float on air with the dress of your dreams.
Lots of love,
